Discipleship
When Thomas Cranmer led the English Reformation of the 16th century, Scripture and prayer were at the heart of the revolution. Morning and Evening Prayer became tools of discipleship, anchoring believers in devotion to Jesus Christ, placing the Psalms and the whole sweep of the Bible into their hearts and mouths. Daily worship through the Offices provided a daily training ground for the soul—where theology met doxology and the Word of God shaped the life of the disciple.
Evangelism
The Daily Office of Morning and Evening Prayer made Scripture and Scripture-centered acts of worship accessible to all people. Those unfamiliar with the Bible or Christianity could encounter the living Christ through these Offices, as the community gathered in worship and experienced transformation.
Hospitable communities invited others to “taste and see that the Lord is good” (Ps. 34:8) by demonstrating the power and presence of God in their midst.
